This week was a big week as I am now going to the doc every week, and I got "checked" for the first time. I was expecting a "wow....you are ahead of schedule" kind of appointment. Expecting a 3 and 90% effaced so I could go into labor at exactly 37 weeks when I'm "full term". Wow lots of quotations today. No...no. I'm at a 1 and 80% effaced. Did I mention how not fun getting checked is? Well I guess I'm on track for a 40 week pregnancy, which means I have got a long month ahead of me in this heat with not a single summer outfit to wear. Hmmm....
No, it's funny because I sit and talk about how bad I want her to come, and then when I start having contractions...I freak out. I'm getting pretty scared for the labor, delivery, and actually taking care of a real baby. It's all so unknown and weird to thing about! I'm pretty sure Austin is getting a lot more nervous too because he gets that look in his eye every time I tell him how much longer we have. Only 4 weeks??? It's going to go by fast. I'm trying to enjoy every second of it even though I know I'm ginorm and obese and totally uncomfortable.....but I can't believe my first pregnancy is almost over. When it's all said and done...I'll probably miss this time of my life.
At this week's appointment baby A was active and crazy....she was having a party in my belly and her heart rate was 151, which is the fastest it's been in weeks. Don't know what that means....but she is head down and heavy as heck on my bladder. Although I'm still sleeping pretty good (not to rub it in), I wake up in serious pain when I have to go to the bathroom (every 2 hours on the dot). I swear she is already 8 lbs going on 12 but who knows. In all seriousness she should be about 6 lbs right now. What?? I don't know why this is all still boggling my mind.
My other symptoms at this point....swelling!! My feet and hands can barely bend!! I'm blaming it on this 80 degree weather. Monday Night my contractions were a good 8 minutes apart and I decided to start getting our hospital bags ready. I also started cooking "freezer meals" for after the baby comes. Thank you, Pinterest. Why is there still so much to do??
I'm feeling much better now...I had my second shower today with my side of the family and my parents ward, so I feel much more prepared! I finally got my mattress! I also got a big chunk of the money needed for my stroller, a whole bunch of beautiful blankets, more adorable baby clothes, and some toys. Most items are checked off my list at this point.
