Ok well not that exciting, but we did actually get away for our first time this summer. Wait, it's fall. I keep forgetting that I spent the summer cooped up in our basement. Anyway....we took a road trip. It usually takes us 3 1/2 hours to get there, it but took us 5. Traveling with a baby is a whole new experience. Ha. We packed up what felt like the entire house. On the way there we tried to time it so she would sleep, and I wouldn't have to feed her. Well, that didn't work. She had a meltdown at 1 in the morning at the scariest truck stop ever (Parowan....ewww). So that was fun. But the weekend was AWESOME. Austin had Friday and Monday off and it was like...the best. We probably could have just stayed home because we only made it to the pool for a total of 1 hour combined throughout the whole weekend. We took SO many naps. We seriously slept the trip away, and ohhhh...it felt good!!
Friday....we slept a lot, and we went to the pool for an hour. We couldn't get AJ to sleep there, and then of course she fell sound asleep on the walk home. Afterwards, we ate at Mongolian BBQ. We always go there, and it NEVER hits the spot. I don't know why, but I always feel like I need 5 cupcakes from 25 Main afterwards. Yep, did that. Losing the baby weight is going really well for me haha. Oh, and we shopped at the outlets. Austin got some new work attire for his new job. He actually has to dress up now, poor lad. We ended the night with a redbox....Lorax, actually. I am not so into kid movies, but Austin has always loved them, and it makes me laugh that Lorax was his choice of movie.
Saturday.....the day of our 6 year anniversary. Woot Woot! We slept a lot, again. I took a 2 hour nap instead of going to the pool. That is what my life has come to....never thought I would choose sleep over a day at the pool. We showered and got ready for dinner. We went to an early dinner at Claim Jumper, so that we could watch the UTAH game after (but we couldn't find anyone with Comcast...dang!). Back to claim Jumper....Austin thought he needed a 16 oz prime rib and couldn't eat it all, but that was good, because I ate a lot of it :) I got the most amazing Salmon and Veggie dinner. Oh, and their sour dough bread? Delish. Afterwards, we went to TJ Maxx. Is it just me or is it WAY better in St. George than up here? So fun to actually shop. Haven't done that in a year or so....yes, seriously.
Sunday....Austin watched Allegra while I got a whole 2 hours to myself at the pool. What a gem. It was totally overcast, but I got a nice break for just a minute. I just chilled there in my new sunglasses and thought about life and marriage, and our 6 year journey together. It's been a good one. Sometimes life right now seems hard. Austin got a new job. He's gone a lot. I'm at home by myself with a baby. BUT seriously....that's dumb because our life is amazing....in the basement and all. I feel so so grateful every day for a healthy baby and being married to my best friend. That's what matters anyway. We heard the song "remember then" on the radio on the way there, and it just made me really think about enjoying every single moment. I'm really going to miss this time when it is gone. Happy 6 years to the best person I know.
Oh, and then we drove home. The drive home was sorta awful. AJ would not stop spitting up and choking on it. We were both COVERED when we finally got home. Next time....I'm voting for Park City!!
