The Story

Wednesday night I went to bed and told Austin that I really didn't want to go into labor during that night because I had so much that needed to get done. The house was a mess. I needed a shower. About 10 loads of laundry needed to be done. etc. I woke up early on Thursday, which was weird because I was sleeping in til about 10 every day since sleep was ridiculous. I was happy I didn't go into labor so I could get all that stuff done. I got in a few hours of work on Thursday, got the entire house cleaned, and got in the shower. After the shower Austin called and asked if I was going in to labor and I said NO!!! I'm probably not having the baby today tomorrow or any day this week! I was full on expecting to get induced a week late since I hadn't had any contractions! Right after I got off the phone with Austin, I answered a few emails at work, and then I stood up from the couch and all the sudden my water broke! It was about 12:30, and the most perfect timing ever. I wasn't positive since it wasn't like all over the floor, but it was definitely a gush. I wasn't having any contractions, so I decided to hurry and blow dry my hair. After getting dressed and blow drying my hair....another gush! Then I decided this was for real and called Austin at work. He didn't quite believe me and thought it was weird I wasn't having contractions, but decided to meet me at home to go get checked out at the hospital. I got our things packed up and waited for Austin to get home. Still no contractions. When Aust got home, I was already in the car with the bags. I was hoping the neighbors wouldn't see me because I felt so dumb haha! Austin was sooooo calm....it totally shocked me. He decided to bring the garbage in....go to the bathroom.... .get his computer.....and take his sweet time :) I was so anxious to get to the hospital and get the "YES, WE ARE HAVING A BABY TODAY!"  On our way to the hospital, Austin was starving and asked if we could stop for some lunch. Seriously??? NO! Haha. We got to the hospital at about 1:30, and at this point my pants were pretty soaking wet from the drive. It was such a weird feeling walking in....going to the third floor and saying...."ummm...I think my water broke." We got sent to a tiny room, and I changed into the hospital gown. Geez....it was like 1 hour before anyone came to check on us...I swear. We were just staring at each other in that white room feeling SOOOO anxious. She checked to make sure my water broke. A definite yes. At this point the whole bed was wet too. How much water is in there? Anyway.....we gave our medical history, answered all their questions, and then they took another hour to get our room set up. At this point we started texting everyone to tell them it was GO TIME. Woot woot! We finally got settled in our room at about 3:00. I still wasn't having contractions, so they got the IV in and got me started on Pitocin. They upped the dose about 3 times in the next half hour, and  by 3:30 I was starting to feel them regularly. My mom arrived at 4:00...just went I needed her. At this point the contractions were every 1-2 minutes a part and so strong. I was in serious pain, but I really didn't want to be a wuss and ask for the epidural so early. By 5:00, I couldn't do it any longer.....I asked for the epidural! Now I feel like I waited a little too long since I was only getting about 30 seconds of relief and DYING!!! Geez the epidural was amazing. No way people do it natural. That hour was miserable. At this point I was dilated to a 3+ and people started to show up. I kept watching the contractions on the screen and I was SOOOOO beyond happy I couldn't feel them. At 6:30, I was dilated to a 5. At 8:00, I was dilated to an 8! It was going way faster than expected. They thought I wouldn't have the baby until about 2:00 AM. At 9:30 I was dilated to a 10 and it was time to start pushing. They had me wait another half hour or so to see if the baby's head would move down farther. Just after 10:00, I started pushing.

Here are our last pictures being pregnant....Just before we started to push.

I was so happy to have EVERY ONE in the family there supporting us. We were lucky that Adam and Alissa were already on their way down, and every one was able to be there!

I pushed for about 25 minutes, when this little angel arrived! Awww....instant relief and so much happiness!!!

Never been a cuter dad!

The first thing I wanted to know was how much she weighed because I seriously thought she was going to be a 10 pounder!! 7-11 and perfect!

My doctor was our of town, so doctor Jones delivered me, and we loved him!! We loved all our cute nurses and everything went so wonderfully well.....I couldn't have asked for anything different!

Our first family photo....

After some skin to skin, everyone was invited in to see her!

Austin went down with the nurse to take her bath, and he took about 200 pictures. That's my guy!

At about 12:30 AM we made it back down to the 2nd floor to get settled in our new room. I fed her....well tried haha and stared at her cute face for an hour. I tried to get some sleep after that but couldn't get one ounce! She was brought back in our at 3:00 to get fed again. I tried.....and pretty much failed, but I kept her in with me the rest of the night and we chilled. Austin slept great haha. I've never felt so much love!

Here she is one day old and just perfect. She's got my nose and her daddy's mouth and looooong toes. I couldn't believe those long toes!! So not an Egan trait. She's got long skinny limbs like the Ingersolls. She slept ALL day long. I couldn't get her to wake up  at all....even tickling her back, undressing her, and tickling her toes. She was so sleepy.

Saturday afternoon we left the hospital and brought her home. Driving home with a baby in the backseat was   funny. We were worried she was too hot or too cold, and I probably looked back there like every 2 minutes to check on her. So funny.

Since we have been home, it has been amazing and crazy at the same time. We are figuring things out. She has got eating down now, which is such a relief! She loves to eat. I can't believe how she is literally UP all night and ASLEEP all day long. The first night she was WIDE awake. I fed her like 3 times by 4:30, and I was like....WHAAAAT???? No way! Austin got up with her at 4:30 and let me sleep until about 9! It was heaven. Last night she was a little bit more sleepy, and I got a tiny bit of sleep during the feedings, but she was mostly up all night again. at 4:00, Austin switched me again. He likes to stay awake holding her, and I like to try to put her down and actually SLEEP! What would I do without Austin? Thank goodness he has the week off of work. The last few days with just the 3 of us have been so sweet. I don't know what I would do without him!! He's been such a good helper. He gets whatever I ask and just loves to hold his baby girl. I was afraid he would be too scared, but he picked up the daddy responsibilities right away! Pretty sure he loves her about a thousand times more than me now :) That's fine by me. With all the hard work being pregnant for 9 months, giving birth, recovering, and sleep deprived....She is so worth it!!!!!!!!

It definitely feels like a little piece of heaven around here!

Yeah I am the first to comment :) I can't even tell you how happy I was that we were able to be there! I was stressing that I would miss out on such a special day. She is perfect and I love her already. Yesterday all the Squires girl cousins were running around in the back yard and it got me SO excited for the summer nights just watching the Ingersoll cousins playing at Grandma & Grandpas. We sure love you 3! Enjoy every minute of your little piece of heaven!
